TML supported De Lijn in developing a long-term vision for a demand-driven and future-proof public transport network. TML was responsible for data analysis and scenarios on network development and modal shift.
The mobility landscape is changing fast: congestion is rising, the car remains dominant, and many people in Flanders still struggle to reach their destination. In this project, we worked with De Lijn to help shape a long-term vision for public transport in Flanders. We are aiming for a network that better suits how and where people want to travel today and tomorrow, both in urban and rural areas.
Based on a thorough analysis of accessibility, travel behaviour, modal shift potential, and future technologies, we supported De Lijn in refining its strategic framework. That vision combines a demand-driven approach with continued attention to accessibility. This creates a vision of the future in which public transport can be both efficient and inclusive.
TML led the data processing and analysis and supported scenario development around network design and modal shift. By identifying what works and where the opportunities lie, we helped lay the groundwork for the public transport policy of the future.
