TML Talk 23: Safe traffic on safe roads?
The Flanders Road Safety Plan 2026–2030 aims to further reduce the number of road casualties. But how is Flanders going about achieving this ambition?
During our 23rd TML Talk, we will explore the question of what effects we can – and cannot – expect from various road safety measures. We will also highlight the crucial role of safe road infrastructure. After all, within the safe system approach, road authorities play a key role in improving road safety. Technology, data, and the rise of self-driving vehicles also offer opportunities, but at the same time present new challenges.
TML researcher Stijn Daniels will give the presentation "Goed bedoeld, maar graag ook doeltreffend: effecten van verkeersveiligheidsmaatregelen". We also dive into our new traffic safety module in Traffic Scout.
Patrick Deknudt (Roads and Traffic Agency) will present "Van meetlus tot dataplatform: hoe AWV verkeersdata verzamelt, beheert en inzet".
Both presentations will be given in Dutch.
The TML Talk will take place on Tuesday 16 June, from 12.00 to 14.00, in the TML conference room (Diestsesteenweg 71, 3010 Kessel-Lo). Attendance is free, but registration via this link is required.
We will be providing a delicious vegetarian sandwich lunch, coffee, tea and biscuits, and of course a very engaging session.
