Traffic Scout
Traffic Scout in Mortsel: from rough sketch to smart traffic plan
In Mortsel, we teamed up with the city’s mobility officer to take a closer look at the circulation plan. Using Traffic Scout, we started by mapping out a few rough scenarios. Early simulations quickly showed that tackling cut-through traffic requires more than just a few small tweaks — a broader, integrated approach was needed. Building on that insight, we worked together to develop and gradually refine a comprehensive plan. Traffic Scout also allowed us to test the impact of specific interventions, such as adjustments to traffic lights and intersections. The result: a well-founded, widely supported traffic plan, built on data and collaboration.
Traffic Scout in Sint-Niklaas: local insights, backed by data
In Sint-Niklaas, Traffic Scout was used to assess the effects of a new cycling bridge and several changes to traffic circulation. By combining local data with smart simulations, the tool immediately provided a clear picture of how traffic patterns were shifting. Observations from residents — like the increase in bike traffic — were confirmed with hard data, including Telraam counts. The simulations matched well with on-the-ground measurements and also served as valuable input for wider air quality modelling. Once again, Traffic Scout proved to be an accessible tool that supports policy decisions with clear, data-driven insights.
