Update of the Regional Fleet Composition Belgium

From 2017 to 2018
Belgium drafts air emission inventories for the transport sector as part of its international obligations. Each region in Belgium (Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels) developed its inventories in order to produce the consolidated Belgian national emission inventory.

This segregated approach caused inconsistencies between the different regions and produced inconsistent output at national level. In 2014, TML produced a new tool that calculates the fleet composition in a harmonised way for all three regions (see https://www.tmleuven.be/en/project/samenstellingvoertuigvloten).

In the course of 2017-2018,  we updated this vehicle stock module. The main focus of the update was to adapt the tool for the use of COPERT5 instead of COPERT4. We also developed a correction for old inactive vehicles and we made some further changes to take some new input data into account. We also adapted the fleet projection module to the format of the new fleet module and extended the projections up to 2040.
