Refined traffic models for the Dullaert neighbourhood

TML refined the regional traffic model down to neighbourhood level in Dullaert, so that the environmental impact of the extension of the R43 around Eeklo could be accurately and comprehensively assessed.
The planned extension of the Eeklo ring road (R43) required a thorough environmental impact assessment (EIA). The existing traffic model was not sufficient for the Dullaert neighbourhood: it was too coarse to accurately predict effects such as noise and air quality. That is why TML refined the model down to neighbourhood level, so that smaller streets and connections were also correctly taken into account.
Thanks to this refinement, traffic intensities and their impact on mobility, noise, air, and health could be estimated much more accurately. We investigated both the current situation and the future situation with the new ring road and looked at what mitigating measures are possible. This provided a clear and reliable picture of the effects.
