Oudenaarde Santenssite

From 2016 to 2019
TML contributed to the development of a master plan for the former Santenssite in Oudenaarde. The project team explored how this site of 18 ha can be transformed into a residential and retail zone. We considered landscape, urban planning, traffic engineering and programmatic aspects.
TML handled the traffic analysis, in which traffic flows to and from the Santenssite are mapped, based on the planned program. The mobility impact on the surroundings was equally analysed.
We assessed and optimized the circulation plan in the project area to ensure that various road users (ongoing traffic, destination and local traffic) will use the desired routes.
We also analysed the entire mobility concept from a parking perspective. It is important not to increase parking pressure at the centre and at the rail station. Considering the specific program parts in the project area (e.g. retail), guidelines on parking and access have been provided.
Subsequently, measures were formulated. An important and critical starting point in the preparation of this plan was to achieve a win-win situation with the different stakeholders on the various solution components. We aimed to ensure a smooth and safe spatial integration and mobility solution for all the mobility participants.
