Innovation partnership Mobilidata Core

From 2021 to 2024
Mobilidata was a Flemish programme that provides road users with real-time information to make their journeys safer, smoother, and more environmentally friendly. TML contributed to the monitoring and evaluation of the programme, focusing on the acceptance, social impact, and possible business models of innovative mobility solutions.

With Mobilidata, a programme of the Flemish government supported by imec, the contracting authority wanted to provide road users with real- or neartime information to assist them during their journey, so that everyone can move around more safely, smoothly, and with less impact on the environment.

The Mobilidata Programme realised innovative mobility solutions through co-creation with private partners and based on a digital infrastructure, smart traffic lights, and high-quality, sustainable data sources. With these, policymakers, companies, governments, citizens, and app builders could set to work to make traffic smoother, more sustainable, more comfortable, and safer for every road user. The Mobilidata Programme started from concrete use cases in which various mobility solutions were proposed. C-ITS services and functionalities ensured that connected mobility participants and/or road infrastructure work together by exchanging information. In doing so, the Mobilidata Programme made large amounts of high-quality data on all types of mobility available to private partners who can work with this data.

Within this programme, TML worked together with a consortium of various parties, and more specifically with Tractebel, on the monitoring and evaluation component. Both were responsible for studies on (i) acceptability, acceptance, and use, (ii) social impact, and (iii) possible business models.
