City Programme Roeselare

The city programme is a process in which local authorities, local actors and the Flemish government develop a common approach on jointly defined key issues. Currently, three test cases are going on in Antwerp, Ghent and Roeselare, as an experiment.

- They focus on system change in the context of major transition issues as formulated at the ViA Roundtable ‘sustainable and creative cities’
- They aim to centralize transversal themes that cannot be accommodated by administratively demarcated traditional sectors
- They respond to the need for organizational change in the cities to address urban issues
- They want a broad partnership involving local actors (city governments, civil society and businesses) and actors of the Flemish government
- City Programmes are thus both innovative in terms of content and in terms of organization and procedure. The aim is high

TML supported IDEA in the supervision of the city programme Roeselare. This city programme’s theme is "Sustainable city-regional mobility". TML collected, interpreted and presented indicators relating to the current and planned mobility situation, the socio-economic structure and land use in the region around Roeselare. Based on this material, findings were presented and the potential of various policy measures were proposed. All the results have been summarized in a technical report including all the data, the interpretations and the reactions on the presentations. The report is also used in the final ‘negotiation note’ of the city programme.
