To support investment decisions in road safety with stronger evidence, the Department of Mobility and Public Works (MOW) is commissioning targeted research. TML is one of the selected contractors
The work is divided into six research strands, each addressing a different aspect of road safety policy:
This comprehensive approach makes it possible to address both urgent issues and long-term policy challenges. By combining various research methods, TML supports MOW in making more informed decisions towards a safer mobility system.

- Data analysis, such as in-depth examination of traffic accident records.
- Policy evaluation, with a focus on effectiveness and opportunities for improvement.
- Field and simulation research, to identify risks in existing infrastructure and to assess the potential impact of planned measures before wider implementation.
- Behavioural studies, to gain insight into how road users interact with infrastructure and safety measures.
- Development of innovative methods and tools, aimed at supporting forward-looking road safety policy.
- Benchmarking, for example through literature reviews and/or targeted surveys.
