From 2026 to 2030
The European Road Safety Observatory (ERSO) is an online platform established by the European Commission to provide reliable, comparable data, research, and analysis on road safety across the European Union. Together with partners Tilkon and CDV, TML will operate the platform for the next four years.
The EU has set an ambitious target: to halve road deaths and serious injuries by 2030, with the long-term goal of eliminating them by 2050. Reliable, up-to-date information is essential to track that progress.
How safe are Europe's roads? Which countries are making progress, and where is there still work to be done? The European Road Safety Observatory (ERSO) helps answer these questions. Set up by the European Commission, ERSO brings together road safety data, research and policy information from across Europe. It gives policymakers, researchers and other stakeholders a clearer picture of road safety and helps them make informed decisions.
Together with Tilkon and CDV, TML supports the continued development of ERSO. The project covers a wide range of activities, from updating annual road safety statistics and country profiles to producing factsheets and thematic reports on topics such as speeding, vulnerable road users, and driver behaviour. The team also analyses road safety performance indicators and monitors progress towards European targets.
TML plays a key role processing and analysing road safety data and presenting the results. We develop automated workflows to generate the tables and charts used in the Annual Statistical Reports and Facts & Figures publications. This makes it easier to keep the information accurate, consistent, and up to date. Our road safety experts also contribute to thematic reports, translating research findings into useful insights for a wide audience of professional users and policymakers.
