Circulation plan Geeraardsbergen

The city of Geraardsbergen is redesigning its circulation to create a safer and more liveable city centre. TML supports this effort by developing detailed traffic models and simulations with Traffic Scout to assess the impact of different mobility scenarios.

The city of Geraardsbergen aims to make its historic centre safer, more liveable, and easier to reach. Today, heavy through traffic — especially across Denderbrugge — causes unsafe situations and hampers circulation. To strike a better balance between accessibility and quality of life, the city launched a new circulation plan.

TML is working with Vectris to carry out a detailed traffic analysis using its in-house Traffic Scout model. This tool allows realistic simulations of different mobility scenarios and helps assess the impact of street closures, speed changes, traffic filters, or new connections. The analysis considers all transport modes as well as traffic light operations at key intersections.

TML is responsible for developing the traffic models, integrating data from Telraam and local counts, and running the scenario analyses. The results will be presented in a web-based interface and GIS maps, enabling the city to easily compare different policy options.
