Impact Study for the New Brussels Postal Sorting Centre

13.21
From 2013 to 2014
A project team led by Antea conducted an impact study for the new Brussels postal sorting centre on the Marlysite in Neder-Over-Heembeek.

TML did microsimulations with VISSIM to support his study. The intersections near the site and the on- and off-ramps at the R0 (the beltway around Brussels) were simulated (the circled areas in the figure below). The opening/closing of the Buda bridge has been taken into account.

Intersections near the Marlysite

A simulation of both the reference state and of the situation during the exploitation of the postal sorting centre was made, each for the morning and evening peak. The simulations show that the intersections have enough capacity to facilitate the extra traffic generated by the sorting centre.
