Transport of persons with reduced mobility

17039
From 2017 to 2018
The main objective of this project is to increase awareness and improve the application of measures and policies that enhance the accessibility of transport services for Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM) and strengthen their passenger rights, before, during and after their journey. This is achieved by the development of:
  • A structured compilation of best practices that facilitate travel for PRMs (covering all transport modes and their different aspects, such as infrastructure, vehicles, technical solutions, processes and personal assistance);
  • A guide to support the further development of policies, actions, measures or strategies with the goal to increase accessibility for PRM.

At first, a combination of literature review and a survey oriented towards transport service providers, policy makers and representative organisations, will lead to a long list of measures. Through the application of a set of selection criteria (including a.o. transferability, cost-effectiveness, and target group), we will then compile a shortlist of 20-25 measures to reflect the best practices.
