Mobiscore Update

20028 / 21008
From 2020 to 2021
In this project, we developed an updated version of the Mobiscore based on updated background maps, a new version of the Onderzoek Verplaatsingsgedrag Vlaanderen (OVG) and the conclusions and recommendations from the analysis in the autumn of 2019.

In the autumn of 2019, we carried out an in-depth analysis of the Mobsicore, with the aim of gaining more insight into the reasons behind some differences between scores, and why some neighbourhoods score more or less than expected. The ultimate goal of this study was to find out the sensitivity of the various parameters and, based on this, make proposals to arrive at an improved Mobiscore that is even more in line with the policy objectives. Based on these results, an updated Mobiscore was developed and further analysed.

The result is an updated Mobiscore, determined on the basis of new environmental costs calculated from updated data. The current score calculation was also compared with a new score calculation proposal.

Initially, the environmental costs, which form the basis of the Mobiscore, were recalculated. For this we used updated data. The method remained largely the same as for the earlier calculation of the Mobiscore. The resulting environmental costs are compared with the old ones in order to reach conclusions.

On the basis of these environmental costs, we calculated the new Mobiscore.  In doing so, we used an alternative score calculation. We compared this alternative with the current score calculation in order to formulate the necessary recommendations.
