Flemish Bouwmeester Scan

18004
From 2018 to 2021
The Bouwmeester Scan makes a diagnosis of the strengths and weaknesses of the municipality in terms of space, mobility, core strengthening, regulation and entrepreneurship with the subsequent development of an agenda of projects and policy interventions, for the transition to a more pleasant, healthier, better equipped and more inclusive living environment.
No matter how familiar or valuable the Flemish (urban) landscapes appear to be, we are just as familiar with the pain points: scattered habitation in low densities, high land use, inefficient mobility and the continuous occupation of open space. This spatial model is not only environmentally and climate unfriendly, it also has a heavy social cost. However, the transition to better and more sustainable use of space requires an insight into the possible lines of action that can be pursued.
The Bouwmeester Scan therefore maps out the spatial and policy-related strengths and weaknesses of the municipality and provides a concrete agenda of projects and interventions. These include densification and core strengthening, the reinforcement and expansion of green-blue networks, an optimal mobility structure with priority for the sustainable modes, ecologically valuable green areas and a better interplay between open space and urbanisation.
To this end, the municipality is analyzed from various angles with a strong interaction between the work domains.
TML supports the team with traffic engineering analyses and optimisation proposals to achieve a multi-modal well-functioning sustainable mobility structure.
Reports are made available as soon as the analyses are available.
