R20 Louisaplein - Naamsepoort
Study for the reorganization of R20, Waterloolaan and the Gulden Vlieslaan in Brussels
Plans to improve traffic circulation in Brussels by reconstructing parts of the 'Kleine Ring' R20 in Brussels exist for quite some time. One of the options is the construction of a complete underground connection between Louisaplein and Naamse Poort, thereby eliminating the possibility of changing lanes between the underground tunnel and the aboveground service roads Waterloolaan and Gulden Vlieslaan. Both these roads are reorganized and a new underground connection between Louisaplein and Stephanieplein is considered as well. TML made a detailed analysis of traffic flows on this reorganized infrastructure, based on the microscopic simulation software 'Quadstone Paramics'.
