Transport Success Stories

Transport success stories on environment

A major objective of the European Environment Agency (EEA) is to contribute to a better environment in Europe. Reducing negative health and environmental impacts of the transport sector are important here.

To enable the EEA to underpin its work, TML, REC (Regional Environmental Center) and UWE (University of the West of England) looked for “transport success stories.” These are concrete and good examples of how negative health and environmental impacts have been reduced in the transport sector. The stories concern different transport modes and environments. The majority of success stories take place in urban areas, as more people enjoy the advantages in these areas and other non-environmental advantages occur, such as reduced congestion and greater quality of life
