NEUJOBS
Employment 2025: How multiple transitions will affect the European labour market
The aim of the NEUJOBS project is to map the future of employment in Europe in the coming decades. The single intellectual framework used by the project is that of a socio-ecological transition. This is defined as a drastic change in the operations of society towards a more sustainable use of human capital and natural resources.
The project has the following key objectives:
- Conceptualise pathways for impact of the socio-ecological transition on employment.
- Produce integrated scenarios of economic, employment and skills dynamics in Europe.
- Assess interaction between key factors influencing employment developments over the next 15 years and beyond.
- Assess changes necessary in education and training policies.
- Identify key factors driving employment in those sectors that are likely to be heavily influenced by the socio-ecological transition.
- Identify policies to maximise employment potential of groups representing crucial labour force reservoirs.
The NEUJOBS project coordinates the efforts of an interdisciplinary consortium with 23 partners in 29 Work packages. Transport & Mobility Leuven is responsible for WP 15 on the effect of the socio-ecological transition on the transport sector. We will study the trend of the transition in terms of transport and employment as a whole and examine the effects in space (job location, commuting and land use).
