Impact EU ITS Directive

The impact of investments in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in Belgium

The general goal of this study was to perform a ‘sanity check’ on some of ITS Belgium’s estimations of the return on ITS investments. Underlying this is the idea that ITS Belgium can help achieve 200 million euros in added value by 2020. A central question related to this preliminary assessment is whether or not an investment of 400 million euro into ITS can raise sufficient return, in order to raise awareness by the public authorities. Some back-of-the-envelope, quick analyses performed by ITS Belgium formed the starting point of this study.
