Feasibility Study Tool Urban Network Management

Commercial feasibility of the development of a tool for urban mobility measures

In this project, TML assessed the commercial feasibility of developing a tool for the strategic design of traffic signal plans at network level instead of crossroad level, starting from the policy needs within an urban environment.

There are already tools to design traffic signal plans on one intersection. The innovative element of this tool is that the design of traffic signal plans will no longer be approached as an isolated problem, but as an element within the development of a broader mobility vision.

Given that traffic signals are only one of the tools available to shape the mobility vision, we determined whether it is feasible to further broaden the scope of the tool to other urban mobility tools (e.g. drafting circulation plans, parking policy) to enlarge the commercial viability. The determination of these functions and specifications was, therefore, an essential part of this study.
