Cost benefit analysis corridor 22

Study on the completion of the Priority Project No. 22

The Priority Project of the EU provides a railway link between Germany and Greece. Completing this axis will improve the connectivity between all the rail networks on the basis of common quality standards. This axis is the only connection from south-eastern Europe to the heart of the EU that does not cross the territory of third-countries.

This study will analyze how the objectives of the TEN-T Policy can be reached and which implications the completion of this corridor will cause. This will be done in several tasks:

  • Passenger and freight traffic analysis and a forecast for 2020 and 2030.

  • Cost-benefit analysis.

  • Accessibility of the corridor and its regional impact.

  • Environmental and external costs considerations.

  • Effect on TEN-T policy objectives and multi criteria analysis.

The relevant corridor stakeholders will be contacted and interviewed by our key experts during visits to the corridor Member States.

Transport & Mobility Leuven will take care of the regional and economic modelling.
